What Is Fused Filament Printing?

TECHNOLOGY
Fused filament printing takes a thermoplastic wire (filament) and feeds it through a hot nozzle, where it is melted and deposited layer by layer into a 3-dimensional object.
MATERIALS
The ability to use thermoplastic materials in an additive manufacturing process opens up a whole world of possibilities for material selection. The most common filaments to print are nylon, PLA, ABS, polyethylene and TPU.
HOW IT DIFFERS
Filament printing differs from other 3D printing processes in the dental industry because it does not involve the use of photopolymers. The result is that 3D printed restorations created with the r.Pod printer are stronger, last longer and contain no monomers.
